Winslow Homer's old house and studio is a stones throw down the coast on Prouts Neck. He painted a lot of his best work here from 1883 until his death in 1910. The home was recently purchased by the Portland Museum of Art and they are currently raising money to preserve the site and eventually open it to the public. More info and link to donate here.
