With temperatures in the teens this week, I just had to share these photographs by Ron Harrity. He's a friend, legendary Mainer, and owner of Peapod Recordings. Each winter he hits the ice for a little smelt fishing. I'm hoping I can convince him to take me out this year and show me the ropes.

THE WYOMING
The Wyoming was the biggest wooden ship ever built. A 6 mast schooner built by Percy & Small in Bath, Maine. A couple days ago the Maine Maritime Museum celebrated the 100th anniversary of its launching at the base of a life size sculpture you can see there.
